API Terms of Service

Last Updated: 20 August 2026

These Terms govern your use of the Kopyon API at api.kopyon.com. They are separate from the Terms and Conditions that govern the Kopyon copy trading application. Neither document applies to the other product.

The API is a data feed. You send an HTTP request, we return JSON. There is no account, none of your money is in play, and no software of ours places an order anywhere. That makes this a far shorter document than the one covering the application, and most of what follows is about where the data comes from, what you may do with it, and what we do not promise.

By requesting an API key, or by calling api.kopyon.com with or without one, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. Who You Are Contracting With

Kopyon is operated by an individual, not by an incorporated company. Throughout these Terms, "Kopyon", "we", "us" and "our" refer to that operator. "You" refers to the person or organisation using the API.

We say this plainly because it affects you: there is no corporate entity standing behind the service, and you should size your reliance on it accordingly.

2. What the API Is

The API serves data about traders on Binance's public Smart Money leaderboard: rankings, profiles, chart series, open positions, closed position history, and order history. The endpoints, their parameters, and the shape of every response are documented in the API reference and on the API page.

Every call is a live pass-through. Your request reaches Binance's own leaderboard at the moment you make it. We do not poll on a schedule and we hold no response cache of our own. Binance caches each response for about ten seconds, keyed to the trader rather than to the caller. The clock starts with whoever asks first, so what reaches you may already be up to ten seconds old. That window is Binance's, not ours. We cannot shorten it.

The API is not an investment adviser, a broker, a trading signal service, or a recommendation to do anything. It returns data. What you build on it, and what you do with the result, is yours.

It is a separate product from the Kopyon application. An API key gives you no access to the copy trading application, and an application subscription gives you no access to the API.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding contract.

You must not be located in, ordinarily resident in, or accessing the API from a comprehensively sanctioned jurisdiction, currently including Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine. You must not be a person subject to sanctions administered by the United Nations, the European Union, the United Kingdom, or the United States.

There is no restriction on United States persons. The copy trading application bars them because a US user cannot connect a futures account for it to trade, so a subscription would buy them nothing. That reasoning does not apply to buying data, so it does not apply here.

We do not verify any of this. By using the API you represent that it is true of you.

4. Your Key

There is no account and no self-serve signup. You ask for a key by email and we issue one by hand.

Your key identifies your subscription. Use it inside your own organisation, including by contractors working on your integration. Do not give it to another business, do not resell access to it, and do not use one key to serve two organisations.

You are responsible for everything done with your key, including requests made by someone who obtained it from you. Limits are counted against the key, so sharing it degrades your own service before it degrades ours.

If your key leaks, tell us and we will reissue it. Write to [email protected]. We would rather rotate a key than argue about who spent your allowance.

5. Plans, Limits, and Payment

Each plan sets a request rate and a monthly allowance. The current figures for every plan are published on the API page, which is the authoritative list. We may change them, and where a change reduces what a plan allows we will tell existing customers before it takes effect.

The monthly allowance is counted across your whole key, not per endpoint, and the month is a rolling 30 days that begins with your first billable request in a window rather than on a calendar date. Calls to the documentation, the OpenAPI schema and the health endpoints do not count against it. The rate limit is counted per endpoint, so a burst against one endpoint does not throttle the others.

The Free plan needs no card. It is not a trial and it does not expire.

Calls without a key are allowed a small daily allowance, counted per IP address, so the endpoints on our website can be tried without signing up. That allowance is a courtesy rather than a plan, and we may change or withdraw it at any time.

Billing is direct. There is no self-serve portal. We invoice you and you pay for a period. We do not store a payment instrument, so nothing renews automatically and there is nothing to cancel — if you do nothing, your paid access simply ends.

6. Refunds

We will refund your first paid month in full, within 14 days of paying, if you have made no more requests than the Free plan already allows. The Free plan exists precisely so you can evaluate the API without paying, so the test is simply whether you used capacity you actually paid for. No proportionate deduction, no administrative fee.

Statutory rights come first. If you are a consumer, the law where you live may give you a right to cancel an online purchase and get your money back. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom that is generally 14 days from the day the contract is concluded. That right exists independently of the guarantee above, nothing here restricts it, and we will not apply the guarantee's condition to it.

Most API customers are businesses, and a business buyer has no statutory withdrawal right. The guarantee above is what applies to you.

A refund is sent by hand, by the route you paid or by another we agree with you. Ask at [email protected] and a person will read it.

7. What You May Do With the Data

What your plan covers. Free licences the data for evaluation — building and testing an integration rather than running one in production. It does not expire and it never asks for a card; the limit is on what you use it for, not on how long you keep it. Developer licences one production system, run by you or by people working for you. Trading Desk licences commercial use across your firm, on as many internal systems as you need. Dedicated adds redistribution rights, negotiated in your contract. Everything else in this section applies to every plan.

You may build products on the data, store it, transform it, analyse it, and publish conclusions you draw from it.

You may not redistribute the raw responses. Do not resell, republish, syndicate, or otherwise make available the data we return in substantially the form we return it, whether directly or through a proxy, mirror, or wrapper API. Building a competing feed out of our responses is the one use this licence does not cover.

Derived output is yours, on every plan. Charts, rankings, alerts, scores, signals, dashboards, and anything else you compute from the data are yours to publish and to sell. Selling a product built on the data is not the same as reselling the data, and the plan tiers above do not restrict it — what they scope is how many systems you may run, not whether you may earn from what you build.

Caching for your own use is fine. Store whatever you need to run your product. The restriction is on redistribution, not on storage.

8. Where the Data Comes From

Binance publishes it about traders who opted into its public Smart Money leaderboard. Those traders are not Kopyon users, we have no relationship with them, and we do not vet them.

We claim no ownership of the underlying data. It belongs to the traders and to the exchange that publishes it. What is ours is the interface, the documentation, and the delivery, and nothing here transfers any of that to you beyond the licence in section 7.

We do not warrant that the data is accurate, complete, or current. It may be delayed, incomplete, or wrong, whether because Binance published it that way, because a request upstream failed, or because a trader stopped sharing. A trader may leave the leaderboard at any time and take their history with them.

Past performance does not indicate future results. A trader's record, however long or however strong, tells you nothing reliable about what they will do next. If you present this data to your own users, present it with that in mind.

9. Availability

We do not promise uptime. The API is a live pass-through to a third party we do not control: when Binance's leaderboard is slow, rate-limited, or down, so are we. We also take the service down for maintenance.

We publish what actually happened rather than promising a number. Historical availability is at status.kopyon.com. There is no service level agreement and no service credit.

Parse defensively. We may add fields to a response at any time, so ignore what you do not recognise. The path carries a version number; where a change would break an existing integration we will publish it under a new version where practical, and we will give notice before retiring an old one.

10. Acceptable Use

Do not:

  • Circumvent a rate limit or allowance, whether by rotating keys, rotating IP addresses, or any other means.
  • Redistribute raw responses, in breach of section 7.
  • Attempt to reach endpoints, versions, or infrastructure you have not been given a key for.
  • Probe, scan, or attack the service, or interfere with anyone else's use of it.
  • Use the API in a way that is unlawful where you are.

11. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or revoke a key for breach of these Terms, for non-payment, for abuse, where required by law or sanctions, or where continuing to serve you would expose us to legal risk. Where it is reasonable and lawful to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. For serious breaches we may act immediately.

You may stop at any time by not paying for another period.

Sections 7, 8, 12, 13, 14 and 15 survive termination, along with any other provision that by its nature should.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE API IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WITHOUT LIMITING THAT, KOPYON DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE API WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE; THAT ANY REQUEST WILL SUCCEED OR RETURN WITHIN ANY PARTICULAR TIME; THAT THE DATA RETURNED WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR CURRENT; OR THAT THE API WILL REMAIN COMPATIBLE WITH ANY INTEGRATION YOU HAVE BUILT.

No advice or information obtained from us creates any warranty not expressly stated here.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kopyon is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, opportunity, or data, arising from or relating to your use of the API, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, even if we were advised such damages were possible.

In particular, we are not liable for what you or your users do with the data. This includes trading losses taken on the strength of it, decisions made from data that turned out to be wrong or stale, and downtime that stopped your product working.

Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the API is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us for it in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD $100.

These limits reflect a deliberate allocation of risk. The API is priced as a data feed, not as a dependency that assumes your business risk, and we could not offer it at that price on any other basis.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities. In those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law, and the exclusions above may not apply to you. Nothing here excludes liability for fraud, for fraudulent misrepresentation, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

14. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Kopyon harmless from any claim, loss, liability, or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your use of the API, your breach of these Terms, your redistribution of the data, your violation of any law or sanctions regime, or your misrepresentation of your eligibility under section 3.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

If you are a consumer, the law of the country where you habitually reside governs these Terms, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts. Nothing here overrides consumer protection rights granted by your local law.

If you are not a consumer, Costa Rican law governs these Terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Costa Rica.

Before starting proceedings, please email [email protected] and give us 30 days to resolve the matter.

Claims must be brought individually. To the extent permitted by law, you agree not to bring or participate in a class, collective, or representative action against us.

Our infrastructure is hosted in Germany, which is relevant to how personal data is processed and is addressed in the Privacy Policy. It does not otherwise change the governing law of this agreement.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. The date at the top always reflects the current version. For a change that materially reduces your rights or increases your obligations, we will email the address we issue your key to before it takes effect, and continuing to call the API after that date means you accept it.
